Sara Söderberg (b.1988) is an artist living and working in Stockholm, Sweden. She received her Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2017.
Her work is mainly sculptural and process-based. Working across subterranean materials such as clay, metals, glass, stone and concrete, she explores moments where human gestures and geology interact. The motives appear out of collected fragments from surrounding natural or cultural landscapes which she inserts into her experimental processes to translate the present anthropocentric time as well as imagining extinct worlds and distant futures.
She is one half of the duo Markakt, a platform for collaborative artistic research between herself and Jenny Käll. A site, a material or the trace of an event becomes the starting point for a dialogue with the earth beneath our feet. What is the ground’s experience, what do we want from it, and what does it want from us?
